I signed up for a plein air day at Sweet Olive animal rescue farm - seemed like a great idea, and I had been painting a lot of animals so I was excited to collect references. I'm sorry to say it was not what I'd hoped. The Lyndon House made lots of organizational mistakes: no introductions between artists at the beginning, no safe sink to dump water and get fresh rinsing water for brushes, overly friendly animals chewing my clothes and knocking down my easel, and not even a planned gathering or sharing of work at the end. My colors became mud very quickly and I gave up and just took some photos. The animals were funny and cute, however, and I guess I can say it was a learning experience (I learned I hate plein air painting!)
