For two weeks last month I had the opportunity to really focus on painting full time at Zero Foot Hills artist residency, Durham, CT. I was relieved to find that I could really work full time on art, and that I enjoyed it. The problem, no surprise, is that my paycheck from my 'real' job reflected the time away. And even if I did manage to sell a couple of paintings from the group, the sales would not make up the difference.
I guess the answer is just to keep plugging away and seek out more opportunities, and have faith that if I work hard and smart, the income will eventually follow. I am grateful that my job allows me the flexibility to do that.
