On January 13, 2007, members of the Oglethorpe Democratic Committee gathered for a potluck luncheon in honor Dr. Ray Schofield (seated second from right). The Dems were joined by 2006 Democratic candidates Michael O. Horgan and R. Terry Holley in expressing thanks and appreciation to Dr. Schofield, who is stepping down as committee chairman after two years of service.

Mrs. Victoria Huff Watkins, Vice-Chair for Affirmative Action (far right), helped the Democrats organize a Black Ministers Democratic Conference and Breakfast on October 7, 2006. In attendance were all of our Democratic Candidates or their representatives, and representatives from local Black Churches. The featured speaker for the event was attorney John Clark. Here, Pastor Clarence Burgess, President of the Oglethorpe County Chapter of the NAACP, addresses the crowd during breakfast. Click here for more breakfast photos...

A successful fundraiser reception for R. Terry Holley, candidate for U.S. House of Representatives, Dist. 10, August 31, 2006, at Red Leaf Acres Bed & Breakfast.

Mr. Holley spoke about his stance on the issues and those of his opponent, and took questions from the group on topics such as education, social security and healthcare. The evening was quite a success, raising a total of $1665 for the Holley Campaign. Thirty one Democrats from Oglethorpe, Madison, Wilkes and Oconee Counties came together for a great party in spite of rains from tropical storm Ernesto. We were joined by Mike Horgan, candidate for State House, Dist. 116, and Becky Vaughn, candidate for State House, Dist. 113.
